Cricket Club is based at the West Warwickshire Club. Its history dates back to
1888 and the club has an excellent reputation locally, and throughout the
Run by current and former players, and by an experienced committee, the club has a track record of success on the field of play, and provides a good social experience fr its members.
A thriving organisation, the club enjoys close contacts with local schools, voluntary organisations, the Solihull District Cricket Board and the Warwickshire Cricket Board, through which we host Warwickshire county matches from time to time.
We aim to provide a welcoming and friendly environment within which players of all ages and abilities can participate in and enjoy all aspects of the game.
The club has four teams in The Warwickshire League on Saturdays, and hopes to extend this to five teams in the near future. The First XI are in the premier division, with realistic aspirations to gain promotion, for what would be the fourth time, to The Birmingham & District League.
Teams are entered in midweek competitions as well, and some adult Sunday cricket is played, mostly on a friendly basis. The committee reviews the demand for adult Sunday cricket on an annual basis.
We aim to offer members the opportunities and support to excel at the higher levels of the sport, whilst instilling the virtues of sportsmanship and etiquette towards fellow members, officials and opponents alike. We aim to serve the community as a whole, promoting a beacon of sporting excellence which is open to all.
Always keen to recruit new adult and junior members at all levels, the club has strong junior sections with excellent coaching for all ages and abilities. Practice sessions for adult and junior players takes place four evenings per week.
The cricket facilities both at our main ground at the West Warwickshire Club, and at our other ground at Tudor Grange School are maintained to a high standard by our professional ground staff. Both grounds are in very pleasant settings. Both have net facilities and an artificial pitch, as well as high quality cricket squares.
The club enjoys valued support from a range of sponsors and a number of vice presidents and this has enabled the club to attract professional players/coaches from overseas, and to improve its facilities.
With an extensive programme of club days and tournaments members are unlikely to find themselves short of an opportunity for a game.
Our youth cricket is one of the strongest set-ups in the county. Beginners quickly graduate to hardball cricket, where we run nine teams in the U10 to U16 range, playing Sunday mornings and weekday evenings. Boys and girls enjoy high quality coaching from professional coaches and volunteers, and many go on to represent the district and the county age group teams, whilst in recent years several have gone on to play first class cricket. Rarely does a year go by without at least one of our teams becoming county champions.
A programme of winter coaching for youngsters, and adult nets takes place in February and March, taking advantage of our preferential arrangement to use the sports hall at Tudor Grange School.
Anyone wishing to make further inquiries should in the first instance visit the club website or contact the West Warwickshire Club administrators, who will provide contact details of cricket club officials who can be of help in providing further information.
